Raymond Quenneville, painter

Born in Trois-Rivières in 1956, Raymond Quenneville now lives in Champlain in Mauricie.

His artistic career is remarkable, ranging from the creation of caricatures, comic strips, nature interpretation panels to the illustration of scientific works. Also exploring various mediums such as watercolor, ink, gouache and grease pencil, since 1992 he has devoted himself to what he prefers: landscape painting, in oil, through which he attempts to express a certain serenity, a certain balance. In each of his paintings, we find an unusual softness, an exemplary luminosity and refinement which will bring the observer into an approachable and soothing universe. Over the years, he has developed a very unique and distinguished style.

On this subject, he writes: “ I play a lot with the juxtaposition of complementary colors to accentuate contrasts and create luminous effects. By searching for subtle variations in chromatic effects and values, I try to bring out the fine consistency of air, to create effects of depth that the eye will not contest. ".

Raymond Quenneville has won several awards at national and international events including a first prize in the “Plein Air and Studio Landscapes” category at the “5th Annual Plein Air Salon Competition” in California in 2014, a first prize in the “Plein Air and Studio Landscapes” category.
