André Pleau was born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, in 1950.
Self-taught, André Pleau learned all he knows about painting and drawing on his own. It is with great energy that he handles the palette knife leaving thick traces of colour. When he begins to paint, the canvas is white, without even the slightest hint of a drawing or plan. All is in his head like an emotion. He works spontaneously and passionately. Once the painting is finished, it is with this same palette knife, and with great expansive movements, that he lines the painting from side to side. Leaving on its surface, the shadow of a newly emerging painting.
