Kelly Paterson was born in Montreal in 1960, and currently lives in Repentigny. She attended l'école des beaux-arts in Montreal to develop her painting skills. She is an artist fully committed to her practice, who paints daily with exemplary discipline. She is inspired by nature, which never ceases to amaze her in all its beauty and complexity, with its colors, shapes and movements. Kelly Paterson paints mostly flowers with bright colors and various textures to express the emotion of the moment.
According to the artist, it is the light in the work that matters. In her paintings, the light is sometimes quiet, sometimes sustained. Kelly Paterson expresses herself with color as a creation story without end which renews itself according to her inspiration and evolution. The artist creates her paintings with passion and considers the challenge of expressing unexpressed, unexplored emotions.
Kelly Paterson has participated in several symposiums in Montreal and Quebec City, and in 2011 she was selected to exhibit at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
