Nadia Morin, digital artist

Nadia Morin was born in Saint-Georges de Beauce in 1989 and currently lives in Quebec City. She is a Laval University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts and Media.

Nadia uses archival photos as well as her own photography to create her graphic compositions. The imagery she combines blends the past and present and suggests a poetic, dreamlike universe reminiscent of surrealism.

Using digital processes, Nadia can quickly manipulate images and discover interesting visual effects, conducive to this infinitely flexible and malleable technique. Within this series she is interested in the mental images that are created by reading a sentence, the visual interpretation of words and specifically, private thoughts and messages.

Who really knows the weight of secrets? Nadia’s latest series illustrates an anonymous collection of secrets. These secrets form our individuality in such a way that we must hide these parts of ourselves from ourselves for whatever reason. The vulnerable nature of the human condition is nevertheless universal, and in silence, we share these secrets collectively, although we consider them unique. Through digital collage, she explores the secrets of others to create poetic images. From then on, every word represented no longer belongs to one soul, but to all who recognize it.
