From Charlevoix, Bernard recreates the landscapes of this region which have inspired great Canadian artists, in his own unique style. His numerous trips to Europe and Asia have also inspired some of his finest paintings. The career of painter Mario Bernard really took off in 1998 when he held his first gallery exhibition. His work quickly found buyers in Europe and throughout North America. After a period of devoting his time to interior design, leaving his artistic mark on the most beautiful residences of Quebec, the artist began to paint full time and would continue on this path.
Artist Statement
His paintings are inspired by Fauvism, and created using colours fresh from the tube. His expressive canvases of vibrant colour and dramatic contrast evoke stained glass and provoke intense joy in the viewer. The artist paints all subjects including landscapes, cityscapes, portraits, and still life’s. Like his work, he has evolved over time, and he now demonstrates his full talent in each piece, as his artworks have never been so vibrant and brimming with vitality.
