Nathalie Lapointe, artist

Nathalie Lapointe was born in 1973 in Joliette. She currently lives in the Lanaudière region of Quebec. She began to express herself through drawing very early in her youth, and later, she found an interest in painting, particularly watercolor. Using this technique, she began to create imaginary landscapes using rich washes and organic shapes. During her studies in fine art, she focussed on working more figuratively, particularly in portraiture and still life, which she painted in oils. This exploration was done in parallel with her high school teaching career.

In 2008, her journey was given true meaning and Nathalie Lapointe, challenged by her strong creative desire, decided to devote herself to her painting practice full time. Since then, she has developed her subjects through a personal pictorial language which is defined by a graphic style which is halfway between figuration and abstraction. In her bright and sometimes fantastic urban worlds, she seeks a certain balance between what stabilizes and destabilizes, and also between the completed and the unfinished.
