Gaubert, James

Technique: Oil

Born in the Beauce region, in France, in 1942.

James Gaubert began to paint at a very young age. Moreover, he had his first show at the age of 13. From 1960 to 1967, he took part in the creation of the Atelier de l'École de Rouen. Then in 1970, he began to show his work in the United States. Using the palette knife, and sometimes a paintbrush, he recreates, with great warmth, scenes of Old Quebec. His paintings, which are highly textured, wed a range of tones that blend harmoniously.
