Cantin, Roger

Technique: Oil

Roger Cantin was born in 1930 on April 28th in Québec City.

He graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Québec in 1964. In 1966, he held his first major exhibition of oil paintings and watercolours in Trois-Rivières. He also held a solo exhibition at the Franciscan Monastery in Toronto . For more than thirty years, Cantin's works have been at the forefront of traditional figurative painting in Quebec. In his paintings, Cantin attempts to convey the serenity that inhabits him.

Shy and an introvert, Cantin immerses his soul into the objects and landscapes he paints. He loves unearthing old objects in antique shops as well as strolling along the streets of Old Quebec in search of inspiration and fresh perspectives.
