Breault, Carole

Technique: Oil

Carole Breault is from Iberville, Quebec.

As a teenager, Carole developed a passion for the visual arts. Her interest in drawing and painting led her to join the Arts and Letters program at CEGEP. In 2004, she decided to take private lessons in oil painting to refine her technique. Since then, she has continued her self-taught exploration in her own studio. Breault creates highly realistic portraits of prominent cinematic and musical figures.

Carole Breault is inspired by old photographs, and paints in a monochromatic colour pallette to capture the detail and likeness of her subjects. Her use of black and white refers to the time period from which her subjects are chosen, and also creates a beautiful simplicity in her compositions, allowing the viewer to fully engage with these icons.
