Bouchard, Pierre

Originally from Lac-Saint-Jean, Pierre Bouchard lives and works in Baie-St-Paul. studied advertising design and animation. A versatile artist who spent nearly 18 years in Quebec City, he creates and illustrates comics and fanzines and has also made a few animated films.

Parallel to these practices, he is interested in modern art and has now begun to explore painting as a medium. In 2002, he presented his first exhibition through Galerie Rouje with a series signed Pierre Bouchard. Through this body of work, he explored classic themes inspired by his daily life: nature, birds, fish, fruits and hockey. Although his subjects are rather traditional, their rendering is current, refined and brightly coloured. In a spontaneous gesture, the painter combines his images with spray-painted words that evoke an advertisement or poster.
