Madeleine Béchard was born in St-Pascal-de-Kamouraska (Quebec) in 1928 and died in 2016 in Trois-Rivières.
She taught at the Chanoine-Beaudet Institute in St-Pascal-de-Kamouraska from 1945 to 1949. In 1987 and 1988, she perfected her skills with the painter Pierre Labrecque of Charlevoix, where she interpreted scenes in oil. She continued her training at the Montreal Fine Arts Workshop in 1991, then finally with Louis Desaultiers from 1991 to 1996.
The works of Madeleine Béchard are characterized above all by the originality of the subject. Slender shapes insinuating characters of great elegance are accentuated by lively coloring. Her compositions created under the theme “woman in search of lost time” are particularly appreciated by connoisseurs. Added to his repertoire, “women and music” which constitutes scenes where characters and instrumental forms fit into each other to configure creative and unique compositions.
